New gymnastics school to open in January

Heartland Gymnastics, a new school offering preschool gymnastics for preschool youngsters and aerobics classes for older students and adults, will open at 819 N. Kingshighway in early January.

Chanda Adair and Kassi Knight, gymnastics instructors who combine for more than eight years gymnastics coaching experience, are owners of the new facility, which opens Jan. 5.

"We'll be offering gymnastics classes to youngsters, ages 15 months to 6 years of age," said Knight. "Classes can be arranged from about 4 to 7 p.m., and we may have a few afternoon classes."

All employees at the school are safety certified. A nurse also is on staff.

The gym center, which also includes a gift shop and exercise room, is located behind Papa John's Pizza.

Private gymnastics lessons can also be arranged.

Indasia spice importers in new Jackson facility

Indasia, LLC recently located in a new facility at 2370 N. High St. in Jackson, Mo.

The company is involved in the distribution nationwide of spices primarily used in the poultry, sausage and meat industries.

The headquarters for Indasia's distribution network is located in a new building between Jackson and Fruitland on Highway 61 owned by Oak Enterprises. Tom Kelsey, Broker for Lorimont Place, Ltd. handled the lease transaction.

Henning and Brigitta Bollerslev are owners of the business. Helen Proffer serves as office manager.

Product lines include special ready mixtures for sausage and meat as well as for delicatessen products. The company also provides additives in liquid and powder form for meat processing and marinades for ready to cook meat products. Spice specialty lines also include barbecue and household spices for consumer use.

New business opens in downtown Cairo

CAIRO, Ill. -- Patches, Dolls and Things has opened in downtown Cairo, Ill.

The new business, which offers dolls, doll supplies and doll-making classes, along with a variety of gift items, is the first business to open as part of Cairo's Downtown Revitalization program.

Under the new program, the city has purchased 11 vacant buildings in the largely empty downtown Cairo area with a goal to make the buildings usable and available at subsidized rates to new businesses. Once the building are rehabbed, the city offers it to the business for $1 per year rental.

The newest business, owned by Mike and Pat Brey, opened recently at 218 8th St.

"We were looking forward to having a new business in the downtown area, and this is our opportunity to do it," said Brey, a retired Cairo firefighter.

The new store will be open Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday from 1-4 p.m.
