__SWAN RECEIVES FRESHMAN LEGISLATOR AWARD__

State Rep. Kathy Swan was recognized for her work on education issues during the recently concluded legislative session. The Cape Girardeau Republican received the Freshman Legislator of the Year Award from Tim Jones, Speaker of the Missouri House of Representatives, who commended Swan for her leadership and quality of work. She served on the House committees for elementary and secondary education, higher education and education appropriations.

SIKESTON, Mo. -- Zach Fayette joined First State Bank and Trust Co. Inc. in Sikeston as vice president/commercial loan officer.

Stylists Lisa Wissinger, Laura Lea Green, Jo Ann Mirly and Barb Hammers joined Hair Port, in the old Bunny Bread bakery at 310 Christine St. in Cape Girardeau. Hair Port has a staff of 10 stylists. Each stylist has more than 30 years of experience. They specialize in hair color and highlighting, family haircuts, facial waxes and permanent waves.

SIKESTON, Mo. -- Leslie Bruner-Thresher of East Prairie, Missouri, joined the staff at Century 21 Premiere Realty in Sikeston.

__REIMINGER JOINS RELIABLE INSURANCE__

Cathy Reiminger joined Reliable Insurance Services as an employer benefits specialist. She began her duties on June 23 and works from Cape Girardeau's William Street location. Reliable Insurance Services LLC is a subsidiary of The Bank of Missouri, which is headquartered in Perryville, Missouri.

__MILAM APPOINTED TO STATE BOARD FOR RISK MANAGEMENT__

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- Rita Milam of Benton, Missouri, was appointed by Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon to the Missouri Public Entity Risk Management Fund Board of Trustees. As a member of the six-member board, Milam will provide general administration of and responsibility for the proper operation of the Missouri Public Entity Risk Management Fund, which works to provide a shared risk pool to Missouri public entities offering coverage that is a stable economic alternative to traditional insurance policies, according to a news release from the governor's office. Milam has served as county clerk for Scott County for 20 years and has held county government positions for 30 years. The governor appointed her for a term ending July 15, 2016.

__HOFFMAN GRADUATES FROM TECHNICAL COLLEGE__

Lance Hoffman, a truck technician at Wiethop, a Navistar International truck dealer in Cape Girardeau, graduated from Linn State Technical College with an associate of applied science degree in medium/heavy truck technology. He was sponsored by Wiethop Truck Sales. Hoffman graduated with honors with the charter class of the Heartland International Dealers Association Program. He also was selected as recipient of the Outstanding Student Award in his class.

__MAIN JOINS CENTURY 21 ASHLAND REALTY__

Patty Main joined the staff of Century 21 Ashland Realty in Cape Girardeau. She is a 20-year veteran of the real estate industry. She received her license in 1994 in California and has been a top producer in Cape Girardeau since 2000. Main is a licensed broker in Missouri and has received professional designations including Graduate, Realtor Institute, Accredited Buyer's Representative and Certified Distressed Property Expert. She has received the Summit Award every year since 2000 and was the Multiple Listing Service president in 2013.

DEXTER, Mo. -- Ed Gargas and Shawn Guethle joined the staff at Bagby Wealth Management in Dexter. Gargas is the new sales manager. In addition to his experience in banking and insurance, Gargas has served as project and marketing manager for KMC Construction/ServiceMaster and as regional general manager for NewWave Communications. He is a commissioned officer in the Missouri National Guard and currently holds the rank of lieutenant colonel. Guethle joins the company as an investment consultant. Since beginning his finance career in 2003, he has worked as a performance analyst for Waddell & Reed and as a math teacher and coach for the Dexter Public School System.

__CAPE POLICE DEPARTMENT ANNOUNCES PROMOTIONS__

Cape Girardeau police chief Wes Blair announced the following promotions of police department personnel: Capt. Jack Wimp and Lt. Mark Majoros were promoted to the rank of assistant chief; Sgts. Rodney Barker, Donald Perry Jr. and Bradley Smith were promoted to lieutenant; Officers Jeffrey Bonham, Darren Estes and Joseph Hahn were promoted to sergeant; and Officers Bryan Blanner, Cary Dunavan, Bradley Neels and Brian Vassalli were promoted to corporal.

__ORF NAMED TRANSPORTATION DIRECTOR__

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Sarah Orf is the new transportation director at Perry County School District 32, The Republic Monitor reported. She has more than 17 years of experience in bus transportation services. Beginning with the 2014-15 school year, District 32 will operate its own fleet of more than 40 buses. Under the direction of Orf and her assistant, Melissa Hemmann, the district will transport more than 1,500 students daily on 31 routes to and from school, and for field trips, sporting events and special activities.

__LOCALS NAMED TO 'MISSOURIANS YOU SHOULD KNOW' LIST__

Jay Knudtson, executive vice president of First Missouri State Bank of Cape Girardeau County and former mayor of Cape Girardeau, was named one of Ingram's Magazine's "50 Missourians You Should Know" for 2014. Knudtson was elected to two terms as mayor, first in 2002, and launched First Missouri State Bank with business partner Steve Taylor simultaneously. Knudtson also is a member of the Southeast Missouri State University Board of Regents. Southeast Missouri State University Board of Regents president Doyle Privett of Kennett, Missouri, also was named to the list. He is a certified public accountant and chief financial officer for Kennett National Bank. He helped arrange for Southeast to open a satellite campus in Kennett. Kendra Neely-Martin, Southeast Missouri State University board of regents vice president, is another Missourian named to the list. She is a sales representative for AztraZeneca global pharmaceutical company in St. Louis. She also teaches at-risk girls how to make the right life choices. Ingram's is a Kansas City-based publication that annually identifies 50 notable Missourians. Others who made the list include University of Missouri system president Tim Wolfe, Rex Sinquefield of Show-Me Institute in St. Louis and former St. Louis Cardinals baseball player Lou Brock.

__QUADE EARNS USDA RECOGNITION__

Michelle Quade of Coldwell Banker Abernathy Realty in Jackson was recognized by USDA Rural Development staff for her efforts in promoting rural development housing programs and assisting Jeremy Lingle in becoming a homeowner.

DEXTER, Mo. -- Lisa Baker joined the staff at Halo Hair Studio. She is a licensed cosmetologist who specializes in all hair services and body waxing.

__BESAND, REMLEY EARN SAFETY CERTIFICATION__

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Eugene Besand, safety director at Robinson Construction, and Michael Remley, on-site safety representative at the company, completed the requirements for national certification as a safety trained supervisor. The Board of Certified Safety Professionals awards this certification to individuals who meet the experience and education requirements, including passing a comprehensive examination. The examination covers the knowledge supervisors must have to carry out their safety-related supervisory responsibilities, including hazard recognition and analysis, personal protective equipment, regulatory compliance and incident investigations. The STS certification is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies.

__COLLINS EARNS NEW DESIGN CERTIFICATION__

SIKESTON, Mo. -- Barbara Collins of Barbara Collins Interior Design in Sikeston earned certification as an Associate Kitchen and Bath Designer from the National Kitchen & Bath Association. To earn AKBD certification, the design professional must document a minimum of two years of industry experience, complete 30 NKBA education hours, submit two professional affidavits and pass the written AKBD academic exam.

__WREN PROMOTED TO DIRECTOR OF ANIMAL SHELTER__

SIKESTON, Mo. -- Amy Wren was promoted in April to director of the Sikeston Animal Shelter for the Sikeston Area Humane Society, the Sikeston Standard Democrat reported. Wren previously worked as the shelter's receptionist. She replaces former director Trace White, who resigned to pursue a different job opportunity.

__JACKSON NAMED TO '30 UNDER 30'__

The St. Louis Business Journal named Cape Girardeau Central High School graduate David Jackson to its 2014 "30 Under 30" class. Jackson is managing partner of the Gate Way Group, the lobbying and association-management division of Pelopidas LLC, a public affairs and advocacy firm. He is responsible for forming the legislative vision and strategy for Gate Way's lobbying and association management client base. Each year, the journal selects prominent business leaders and entrepreneurs from a diverse group of candidates in the St. Louis region for the award.

__BROADWAY PRESCRIPTION ADDS DIRECTOR OF MARKETING, WELLNESS__

Stephanie Rogers joined Broadway Prescription Shop in Cape Girardeau as director of marketing and wellness. In this new position for the pharmacy, Rogers will develop and implement brand strategies and marketing strategies, as well as manage the company's promotional events and web and social media growth. Rogers, a Southeast Missouri State University graduate, comes from a 12-year career at KFVS-12, where she worked as a news producer, health reporter and, most recently, executive producer.
