The Workforce Investment Board of Southeast Missouri recently awarded $59,000 to Cap America of Fredricktown, Mo.
The firm manufactures headwear. The money will be used to train 30 new employees on machinery.
Other training amounts awarded:
* Emerson Motors of Kennett, Mo., will receive $76,000 to train employees on how to make a new type of motor.
* GenAm Benefits, also of Kennett, will receive $17,100 for training.
* Ames True Kemper/IXL of Bernie, Mo., will receive $16,500 to train 18 to 20 employees.
The Workforce Investment Board includes members from the private sector in a 13-county area. Cape Girardeau County Representatives are J.J. Williamson and Johnny Ray Conklin.
