Missouri's top employer has announced plans to locate a distribution facility in Moberly, Mo.
Choosing Missouri for the third time in less than year, retail giant Wal-Mart will make a multi-million dollar investment and create hundreds of jobs for this mid-Missouri community.
The project involves the development of a 160-acre area in Moberly, where Wal-Mart will construct a 450,000-square-foot distribution center, creating more than 300 new full-time jobs within two years.
The Missouri Department of Economic Development (DED) awarded a $1.25 million industrial infrastructure grant through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program to the city of Moberly. These funds will be used to make water and sewer improvements that are critical for the project to occur.
Wal-Mart is the world's largest retailer.
The Moberly perishable distribution center will provide Wal-Mart the opportunity to better serve the growing number of Wal-Mart customers who shop for groceries at our stores in Missouri, said Rollin Ford, senior vice president of logistics for Wal-Mart.
