The nation's car and truck sales increased 7 percent last month in a spring surge of consumer shopping that benefited most foreign and domestic automakers.
Industry figures released last week showed the exception was Ford Motor Co., which reported overall sales unchanged in May compared with the year before. Ford's car sales were down nearly 2 percent, while sales of its light trucks increased 4 percent.
