Harrah's Entertainment Inc., operator of Harrah's and Bally's Casinos, has agreed to buy Harvey's Casinos Resorts for $675 million in cash and liabilities.
The proposed purchase has been approved by boards of Harrah's and the seller.
Las Vegas-based Harrah's will acquire Harveys casinos in Council Bluffs, Iowa; Central City, Colo.; and Lake Tahoe, Nev.
Harrah's officials were in Metropolis, Ill., last week to discuss new plants for that Southern Illinois facility, which it purchased about a year ago.
Plans call for a total of two boats for its facility there.
