Area Hardee's restaurants in Southern Illinois, west Kentucky and the Cape Girardeau area have raised more than $9,000 for three social service and community agencies that provide energy assistance.

The Salvation Army of Cape Girardeau will receive $1,700; the Salvation Army of Southern Illinois will receive $2,300; and the West Kentucky Allied Services will receive $5,000.

The Hardee's money was raised through the sale of Hardee's sausage and egg biscuits during a recent breakfast fund raiser.

"This was one of the coldest and longest winters in recent memory and the need for energy for assistant was greater during to the increase in prices of home heating sources," said Michelle Micheletti, area marketing manager for Hardee Restaurants in Southern Illinois, west Kentucky and Cape Girardeau areas.
