Bayer AG will pay about $580 million for a Monsanto Co. business that makes durable plastic used in car dashboards, computer housings and refrigerator linings.
Bayer, based in Leverkusen, Germany, already makes the plastic - called styrenics -- in Europe. The acquisition, announced last week, will add styrenics to the plastics Bayer makes in the United States.
