MEMO: AREA GROUPS RECEIVE FUNDS FROM SOUTHWESTERN BELL

The Mississippi County Industrial Development Association, Poplar Bluff Chamber of Commerce, SEMO Regional Planning Commission and the city of Fredericktown were among groups receiving funds from Southwestern Bell Telephone of Missouri.

The company presented 28 checks totaling $100,000 to winners of its Economic Excellence Awards. Winners were organizations, businesses and government entities that encourage the use of telecommunications as a means of improving economic development in their communities.

More than 100 applications for awards were received. Amounts varied from $1,000 to $10,000.
