Lawyer talks about mortgages via podcast
The Missouri Bar is offering a podcast featuring real estate and banking lawyer Lee Viorel discussing options for people having trouble paying their mortgages. Viorel, of the Lowther Johnson law firm in Springfield, Mo., explains what homeowners should do if they are behind in payments or believe they will soon fall behind. Library ribbon cutting set for Wednesday
The Cape Girardeau Public Library will hold a ribbon cutting at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the temporary location for the library at 301 S. Broadview St. The library moved to the location while the library building on Clark Avenue is renovated and expanded.
Panel to discuss Cape Girardeau water drilling
The Southeast Missouri Regional Planning Commission will hold its regular monthly meeting at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the commission meeting room at 1 W. St. Joseph St. in Perryville, Mo. The agenda includes a public forum on the upcoming Delta Regional Authority grant cycle and discussion of Cape Girardeau's $5.4 million plan for drilling water wells in the southern part of the city.
Business recruiting group meets Tuesday
The Grow Smart Committee of the WIRED Initiative will hold a meeting at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Sikeston Area Higher Education Center on U.S. 61 in Sikeston, Mo. The Grow Smart Committee brings together local, county and regional economic development leaders to work for new business recruitment and promote innovative growth strategies for local companies. Extension offering tax school this week
University of Missouri Extension is offering an income tax school from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Drury Lodge in Cape Girardeau. The tax school is for income tax preparers and will emphasize business and farm taxation. The class will be taught by Mike Hardin, Ph.D., Parman Green, extension ag business specialist, and Nancy Outlaw of the IRS.
