Dannie Gilder Excavating Inc. has received a certificate of appreciation from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in the St. Louis District for quality of work, timely performance and compliance with safety standards for work on the Initial Levee Repair Ste. Genevieve Levee District No. 2 on the Mississippi River.
Col. Thomas C. Suermann presented the award recently.
The award is the second for the company this year. Danny Gilder was recognized earlier for his outstanding emergency contract work during flooding in 1995 at Dutchtown and on the Commerce-Bird's Point Levee. During the flood Gilder provided trucks and manpower that made it possible for the Corps of Engineers to construct an emergency levee at Dutchtown and to raise the levee near Commerce in minimal time. Maj. Joseph DuMenil, deputy commander for the Memphis District, presented the first award at Gilder's office, 5603 Highway 25, Gordonville.
