POPLAR BLUFF -- The Poplar Bluff Wound Clinic and the Poplar Bluff Ostomy Clinic opened in March. The clinics are located at Kneibert Clinic North inside the Bluff Radiology building at 2588 North Westwood Boulevard.
Family nurse practitioner Devona Gibbs is director of the two clinics.
The Ostomy Clinic treats problems associated with colostomies (colon), ileostomies (small intestine) and urostomies (urinary tract).
"There are various types of appliances and products available to provide for optimum fit for collecting drainage," Gibbs said. "We have access to these products and can provide guidance in sizing and fitting them as well as providing care."
The Wound Clinic treats wounds that require special treatment, such as diabetic foot ulcers, non-healing leg wounds from venous or arterial problems, ulcers, burns, infected wounds and others.
"We offer all the high tech treatments available except hyperbaric oxygen. We use all types of dressings including the newer growth factors and silver-impregnated dressings," Gibbs said.
When complications arise, Gibbs is assisted at the Wound and Ostomy clinics by Drs. Georgi, Kean Griffith, Kirby Turner and Michael Stevenson, all of whom work out of Kneibert Clinic's main location on Lester Street.
