Gas prices drop below $3 in Missouri and nearby states, with Missouri averaging $2.91 per gallon for regular gas. Mississippi, Tennessee, and Texas report the lowest prices, while California tops the charts at $4.77.

More than a dozen states now have gas price averages below $3 a gallon, including Missouri and several of its neighbors.

Missouri’s average for regular gas fell to $2.91 a gallon and its average for diesel stood at $3.26 a gallon. These are well below the corresponding national averages of $3.22 and $3.62 per gallon.

Mississippi, Tennessee and Texas have the lowest averages for regular gasoline at around $2.75 to $2.76 a gallon. California’s average of $4.77 a gallon stands at the nation’s highest for regular fuel.

Jackson: $2.64 to $3.02;

Perryville: $2.89 to $3.08;

Scott City: $2.88 to $2.94.
