A food safety workshop will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 8 at the Sikeston First United Methodist Church, Sikeston, Mo. The workshop, sponsored by the Missouri Department of Agriculture and the Missouri Farmers' Market Association, will address food safety concerns from the field through harvest and the point of sale. Cape Cuts moved to 2009 Plaza Way West in the galleria parking lot next to the Grecian Steakhouse Jan. 16. Cape Cuts also has a new hairstylist.
Southeast Missouri State University's Business Incubator will again have space available when it opens its remodeled third floor April 1. The incubator, at 920 Broadway, is part of the former First Baptist Church property. The Innovation Center encourages development of new businesses and technologies. The incubator space, which currently is being renovated, will offer 12 new office spaces totaling 4,200 square feet.
At the Missouri Coalition Celebrating Care Continuum Change, or MC5, meeting in Columbia, Mo., recently, Jackson Manor was recognized as promoting the values and mission of MC5, to create an environment where the dignity and value of each individual who lives or works there is respected and celebrated. Jackson Manor administrator Dave Walker gave a presentation on his experiences developing a social model based on person-centered care and the challenges and outcomes seen during the transition to a less institutionalized nursing home. Jackson Manor is a 90-bed skilled nursing home at 710 Broadridge Drive.
