FREDERICKTOWN -- The Workforce Investment Board of Southeast Missouri recently voted to fund 20 on-the-job training positions at Cap America in the amount of $38,651.

Cap America has started an expansion of its product line due to an out-of-state business acquisition.

This past January, Cap America purchased Stanley Headwear in Oakboro, N.C., a domestic producer of knit caps and traditional baseball-style caps. All manufacturing operations have been relocated to Fredericktown. The acquisition requires that manufacturing increase its production capacity.

The Workforce Investment Board of Southeast Missouri approved the funding request at the May meeting.

A spokesman at Cap America said the company is confident that the proposed project will allow them to continue to produce domestic headwear quickly and competitively. The training is to be completed by Sept. 30.

The Workforce Investment Board of Southeast Missouri is made up of two private sector members from each of 13 counties. The Madison County members are Dennis Siders and Patti Darnell of Fredericktown.
