For the past 33 years, Cape Bicycle Cycling & Fitness has strived to improve the quality of its customers' lives -- whether it's helping them bicycle outdoors or exercise indoors.

Cape Bicycle offers the largest selection of bicycles, parts, accessories and fitness equipment in the area. The shop not only sells the bicycles and fitness equipment, but services them as well.

If there's a downside to offering such a wide selection, it's that the shop, located at 2410 William St. in Cape Girardeau, quickly outgrows its space, says manager Patrick Koetting. That's why, at the end of last year, Cape Bicycle got a facelift -- fresh paint, new lighting and some cleaning -- to prevent the store from becoming visually overwhelming.

Cape Bicycle, owned by Eric and Jean Gooden, continues to follow the latest fitness trends, and recently expanded its residential and commercial product lines. Among the store's newest products is the ElliptiGO, an elliptical on wheels that can be used outdoors.

"It's great for the inventor types who want to try the next big thing," Koetting said. "It's for the adventurous consumer. Come test drive it."

The fitness division's best-sellers continue to be treadmills and ellipticals from TRUE Fitness, a Missouri company.
