Bank changeover

* Local Bank of America customers will begin to receive mailings this week explaining the transfer of their accounts to First State Community Bank. In November, First State Community Bank announced they would be purchasing nine Bank of America locations in Missouri, including those in Cape Girardeau, Jackson, Kennett, Mexico, Moberly, Richland, Rolla, Vandalia and Boonville. Greg Allen, chairman and chief executive officer of First State Community Bank said the bank received regulatory approval of the sale "a couple weeks ago." Rebranding of the branches is scheduled for the latter part of June. Current staff will keep their positions after the change in ownership, he said. Bank of America will retain some accounts, including but not limited to credit cards, mortgages, business banking accounts, middle market and large corporate accounts, investment and brokerage accounts and certain types of accounts for military personnel. Allen encouraged account holders to read information they receive by mail, which will contain instructions about getting new debit cards, checks and banking materials. Questions about the acquisition can be directed to Bank of America at 866-251-0233. Beginning Tuesday, a First State Community Bank call center will be available at 877-955-3722.
