Andy Dirnberger, who started his career as a chef at the former Flaming Pit Restaurant in Cape Girardeau more than three decades ago, is returning to Cape Girardeau, as executive chef at the Cape Girardeau Country Club.
Country club directors announced Dirnberger's appointment last week.
Dirnberger, who has served as executive chef and general manager of restaurants and supper clubs in the Southwest Missouri area the past 15 years, will start his new duties Wednesday.
Dirnberger's most recent position was that of executive chef and kitchen manager at the "Ain't Misbehavin Theatre & Supper Club," at Branson.
He has also served as executive chef at the Radisson Hotel, the largest hotel in Branson with more than 500 rooms, and at the Candlestick Restaurant at Branson.
Dirnberger spent a number of years in Cape Girardeau.
After serving in the U.S. Army, at Fort Leonard Wood, in Vietnam, and at Fort Benning, Ga., he return to Cape Girardeau as chef and kitchen manager at the Flaming Pit. He served as food and beverage manager at Ramada Inns in Sikeston and Cape Girardeau, before opening his own restaurant here in 1985. Andrew's Restaurant & Lounge inside the Galleria that included a 150-seat dining room, 100-seat lounge, and 300-seat banquet room.
He eventually sold the business, and moved to the Southwest Missouri area, at Springfield, where he was executive chief and manager of Jonathan's Restaurant & Lounge. He moved to the Candlestick Restaurant at Branson.
