Elizabeth Helen Chastain has joined the Jackson law firm of Lichtenegger, Weiss, Hahn & Fetterhoff.
Chastain recently graduated cum laude with a Juris Doctor degree form the Southern Illinois University School of Law. She was sworn in and admitted to the Missouri Bar earlier this month.
She will be sworn in to practice for the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri this month and will be sitting for the Illinois Bar exam in February.
Chastain is a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University with a bachelor's degree in business administration with a double major in business management and marketing management. She worked as marketing director and assistant mall manager at West Park Mall in Cape Girardeau for a number of years before starting her law degree program in 1993.
Sally Thurlkill and Connie L. Hess, certified tumor registrars at Southeast Missouri Hospital, have assumed new leadership positions with the Missouri State Tumor Registrars Association.
Thurlkill was recently installed as president of the statewide organization, and Hess has been elected to the group's board of directors.
As president, Thurlkill will attend the Commission on Cancer's annual conference in Chicago.
She has been an employee at Southeast Hospital since 1981 and a part of the hospital's Tumor Registry since 1984. She received her certified tumor registrar designation in 1986. She is a member of the National Cancer Registrars Association.
Hess, an employee at Southeast Hospital since 1988, attained her CTR designation in 1992. She is also the newly elected president of the Bootheel Cancer Registrars Association and is a member of the National Cancer Registrars Association.
Four area hair stylists recently attended Hair World '96 in Washington.
Among the more than 68,000 stylists who attended the national meeting were Carolyn Rouviere, owner of Hair Biz in Cape Girardeau; Alice Benton, Sherry Varney and Emily Tuschhoff, all of Select-A-Style salon in Jackson. All are members of the National Cosmetology Association, Missouri Cosmetology Association and Regional Affiliate 23 of Southeast Missouri.
Hair World, the Olympics of hair styling, is held every four years. the next Hair World will be held in the year 2000 in Australia.
Rouviere received an Affiliate President's award at the 26th Hair World, as Affiliate President, and Tuschhoff received a Community Leadership award.
Rouviere was recently elected president of the Missouri Cosmetology Association. Benton was elected vice president and Tuschhoff was named to the board of directors.
Jeannie Kitchen was recently elected president of Regional Affiliate 23. Other local officers are Tuschhoff, secretary, and Benton, treasurer. Gary Stroder and Stephen Quick were elected to the local affiliate board.
Ken Kiefer, Barbara Larkins and Marilyn Ostendorf, of Coldwell Banker Hamilton Realty, recently attended a "Farm Sales" training session at Columbia, hosted by Coldwell Banker.
Topics of the special session included environmental farm issues and solutions, farm financing and pricing of farm property.
Max Carter, general manager of Reppert Leasing Inc., Anna, Ill., recently attended a Municipal Leasing Forum at Arlington, Va.
Primary topic of the meeting was the rapidly developing business of municipal leasing.

A former Oran woman has been selected as a member of the 1996-97 Leadership Iowa Class that develops, educates and motivates future leaders of Iowa.
Cheryl Eftink, assistant district director for economic development, U.S. Small Business Administration, Des Moines, Iowa, is one of 30 members of the Leadership Class, a program of the Iowa Association of Business and Industry Foundation.
Eftink, a graduate of Oran High School, attended Southeast Missouri State University. She joined the SBA in 1971.
Andra Fahlberg of Cape Girardeau recently attended the American Massage Therapy Association National Convention in New Orleans.
Fahlberg participated in educational sessions at the convention for continuing education required to renew national certification and state licensing.
Fahlberg, of Therapeutic Massage in Cape Girardeau, is a licensed massage therapist and nationally certified in therapeutic massage and bodywork. She is a member of the American Massage Therapy. She has a bachelor's degree in psychology and master's degree in management.
Lisa Fedler, assistant director of the University Center for Student Development and coordinator of Greek Life, Division of Student Affairs, at Southeast Missouri State University, has received the National Association of Student Personnel Administration's "Outstanding New Professional" Award for the NASPA IV-West District. The award recognizes her work in Greek Life.
She assisted Greek students with overcoming the emotional toll caused by a tragic 1994 hazing incident that occurred the year before her arrival. She also received a certificate of commendation for a Hazing Education Audit at the Mid-American Green Council Association.
Fedler was also selected to serve on the Association of Fraternity Advisers (FFA) Risk Management Task Force. Her campus work includes serving on the University Crisis Response Team, the Substance Abuse Prevention Education Committee.
Dr. William K. Kapp III of Orthopaedic Associates of Southeast Missouri, recently fulfilled requirements for certification by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is now a Diplomate of the Board.
Kapp provides orthopaedic care and treatment of musculoskeletal diseases and injuries. He is one of eight orthopaedic surgeons on the staff. Orthopaedic Associates provides services at St. Francis Medical Center, Southeast Missouri Hospital and Perry County Memorial Hospital.
Tanya Heuring of Chaffee is winner of a one-year free membership at the Healthsouth Health Club.
The prize was awarded by the Orthopaedic Association of Southeast Missouri, a full-service orthopedic provider, and Healthsouth during the annual Heartland Women's Show.
