Janet Lee Kline of Benton has been appointed director of the University of Missouri's University Outreach and Extension for the Southeast Missouri Region.

In her new position, Kline will work with extension specialists, county extension council members and citizens to provide research-based, off-campus educational programming in the Southeast Missouri.

Kline joined University Extension as a home economist in Scott County in 1975. She became food and nutrition specialist in 1977, and assumed Scott County program director responsibilities in 1987. She has been serving as interim director in the region since 1992. She is headquartered at the University of Missouri's Delta Center in Portageville.
