James P. Limbaugh, president of Boatmen's National Bank of Cape Girardeau, has been appointed to serve on the Marketing and Communications Committee for the Missouri Bankers Association (MBA).

Limbaugh's appointment was announced by Gary Tribble of Unionville, MBA chairman.

The MBA is a statewide trade and professional organization representing the interests of Missouri's commercial banks in more than 1,500 locations.

Marcia Southard-Ritter, vice president of patient care at St. Francis Medical Center, has been appointed to serve as chairman of the American College of Healthcare Executives' Nurse Executives Committee.

The committee is an internal professional society representing more than 30,000 health care executives.

Southard-Ritter, who recently attained diplomate status in the American College of Healthcare Executives, has served as vice president of patient care at St. Francis since 1982.

She previously served as the medical center's director of patient care administrative services and director of critical care services. She joined St. Francis in 1972.

Dr. Roy P. Meyer has been selected and approved as a principal investigator for the MicroLight 830, a non-thermal cold laser.

The MicroLight 830 is in clinical investigative research and treatment for final stages of approval by the FDA medical doctors, chiropractors, physical therapists, dentists and veterinarians. The treatment for soft tissue injury includes carpal tunnel and other repetitive stress injuries, osteoarthritis and sports injuries.

Meyer has been in private practice at 73 Sheridan in Cape Girardeau 15 years.

Carolyn Kempf of Elite Travel Inc., 354 S. Silver Springs Road, Cape Girardeau, recently returned from a tour of Cancun, Mexico.

She visited various hotels, restaurants and attractions, including the largest ancient Mayan city of Chichen Itza. She also climbed the 80-foot high pyramid, "El Castillo," and visited the sacred Cenote (well).

Six people have been nominated for that many positions on the Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce.

Three directors will be elected from the Service Division and one each from the Industrial, Retail and At-Large divisions.

Ballots will be mailed Wednesday.

The slate of officers is:

Service Division: Kim Swartz, executive director, community counseling Center Foundation; Jay Knudtson vice president, Boatmen's Bank; Steve Green, vice president, commercial lending, Capital Bank.

Retail Division: Don Hill, general manager Capetown RV Sales.

Industrial Division: Alan Gregory, project manager, Gregory Construction Inc.

At-Large Division; Howard Meagle, vice president/general manager KFVS-TV.

Ann Swanson, manager of Gulliver's Travel Agency, recently participated in an educational tour to Guatemala in Central America.

During the six-day tour, she visited the Mayan ruins at Tikal; Lake Atitlan, near three volcanoes; Antiqua, which features the ruins of building from the Spanish settlement; the National Palace; and, textile museum.

Dorothy Rowley of Brenneke Chevrolet has received recognition from the Chevrolet Motor Division as a member of the Business Accounting Managers Council.

Membership on the national council is awarded to administrative personnel at Chevrolet dealership who demonstrate outstanding performances and customer service throughout the year.

SIKESTON -- Steve McPheeters is returning to Sikeston as executive director for the Sikeston Area Chamber of Commerce (SACC).

McPheeters, vice president and senior manager at AmeriFirst Bank in Sikeston from 1989 to 1995, left the area to become senior reporter/anchor and director of special assignments unit for CBN news. He worked with CBN's Continental Radio Network from 1981 to 1988.

McPheeters is a graduate of Scott City High School and attended Southeast Missouri State University. He received his degree from the Radio-Television Broadcast Institute in St. Louis.

McPheeters will replace Dr. Sam Harbin, who stepped into the chamber leadership position on an interim basis more than a year ago. The chamber has been conducting a nationwide search for the position, according to Mike Marshall, SACC president.

Tim Singleton of Re/MAX United realty has been awarded the GRI designation by the Missouri Realtor Institute.

Singleton attended classes throughout the state and successfully completed 90 hours of specific education outlined by the National Association of Realtors.

Single is broker at RE\MAX United realty, 2911 Bloomfield Road in Cape Girardeau.

Stowell J. Hobbs, assistant nurse manager of Southeast Missouri Hospital's Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit, has received the 1995 Critical Care Nurse of the Year award, presented by the Southeast Missouri Chapter of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses.

The award, which recognizes excellence, dedication, devotion and performance in critical care nursing, was presented by last year's recipient, Maggie Schuch, nurse manager of Southeast's Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit.

Hobbs, an employee at Southeast since 1985, received is degree from St. Joseph School of Nursing in Memphis in 1974. Prior to joining the staff at Southeast, Hobbs was a nurse in the critical care unit at St. Francis Medical Center.

He is a member of the National and Southeast Missouri chapters of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses.
