Don Harris of Jackson recently attended the Standard Life and Accident Insurance Co.'s 1995 marketing conference at the Banff Springs Hotel in Banff, Alberta, Canada, where he received his third President's Award for outstanding sales and service.

James W. Wente, administrator at Southeast Missouri Hospital, has been recertified as a Diplomate of the American College of Healthcare Executives, an international professional society representing more than 30,000 health care executives.
Diplomates are required to recertify their professional competence every six year. There are 7,000 people with Diplomate status.
Wente also serves as secretary of the Missouri Hospital Association (MHA) board of trustees and on the MHA executive committee. He is also vice chairman of the MedAmerica HealthNet Inc. board of directors and is a member of the Health Care Financial Management Association board of directors.
Carolyn Rouviere, president of Hair Biz Inc., a beauty salon at 312 Independence, Cape Girardeau, has been elected first vice president of the Missouri Cosmetology Association Inc.
Rouvier, who will serve a two-year term, was installed during the group's annual convention, held at the Double Tree Hotel in Chesterfield. She has served on the MCA Board 10 years.
She is currently as president of the local Regional 23 Cosmetology Association.
Rouviere, who has served three terms as president of the local group, was named Missouri "President of the Year" earlier this year during the National Cosmetology Association Convention at Chicago.
Jo Pierce, an employee at the Missouri Job Service office in Cape Girardeau, has been named the local office's "Employee of the Year."
She received a plaque from state Sen. Jerry Howard of the 25th Missouri District, during a recent meeting of the Job Service Employer Committee of the Missouri Division of Employment Security, held at Caruthersville.
Dave Hitt of Jackson has joined Heartland Realty, 2142 E. Jackson Blvd., Jackson, as a sales associate.
Hitt recently retired after 20 years of full-time service with the Missouri National Guard. Prior to serving with the National Guard, he worked as a savings and loan officer.
Hitt, a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University, serves on the Jackson City Council.
Stephen Quick, instructor at Stage One, The Hair School, Cape Girardeau, recently captured a first, three seconds and a third in hairstyling and cutting competition.
Quick was winner in men's haircutting; runner-up in women's haircutting, women's daytime hairstyle and hair-by-night categories; and third in makeup.
The competition was held during the 50th annual Missouri Cosmetology Association Inc. convention in St. Louis.
