Del Vecchio elected vice president of Missouri CPA Society

Stephen C. DelVecchio is the new vice president of the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants. He will serve a one-year term of the 7,500-member professional organization.

DelVecchio recently assumed new duties as business manager of the Cape Girardeau public schools. He served five years with Hillin and Clark, as audit manager. He also taught at Southeast Missouri State University for 10 years.

DelVecchio earned bachelor's and master's degrees from Southeast Missouri State University and a doctorate in 1990 from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale.

He is also the 1993 Southeast Chapter president and a former member of the Board of Directors.

The other officers are from St. Louis and Kansas City.

NORTHWESTERN MUTURAL LIFE RECOGNIZES CAPE AGENT

David L. Hahs of Cape Girardeau was cited for sales excellence during the year ending May 31 at the 115th annual meeting of agents for Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co.

Three awards were given, Top 100 for the 100 best sales performers, Diamond Class for sales in excess of $10 million, and Emerald Class for those who recorded sales of more than $7 million for the year.

Hahs received the Top 100 sales award.

He is associated with Northwestern's T. Ronald Hahs district agency in Cape Girardeau, of the Edward T. Hempstead general agency in St. Louis.

FULKERSON JOINS FORD AND SONS FUNERAL HOME

Sonnie Fulkerson has joined the staff at Ford and Sons Funeral Home and Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery.

Fulkerson is a licensed life agent and family-service counselor specializing in pre-need services.

She was employed for the past 15 years in retail sales in Cape Girardeau.

Fulkerson and her husband, Ray, have lived in the Cape Girardeau area for the past 20 years. They have three daughters.

JACKSON NATIVE RECEIVES TOP AWARD FROM EPA

David Kluesner has received the Gold Medal, the highest award given by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, for his efforts toward the successful settlement of a $60 million cleanup at Maxy Flats radioactive waste disposal site in Kentucky.

Kluesner, an employee of the EPA since 1987, authored the cleanup decision and assisted in securing commitments for the parties involved.

Kluesner is the son of Bernard and Dorothy Kluesner of Cape Girardeau. He is a 1981 graduate of Jackson High School and a 1986 graduate of the University of Missouri-Rolla. He lives in Washington.

ELITE TRAVEL AGENT RETURNS FROM TOUR ON CRUISE LINES

Jennifer Elfrink of Elite Travel, 354 S. Silver Springs Road, recently returned from a trip with Carnival Cruise Lines.

While in Florida, she toured four of Carnival's ships. Elfrink specializes in corporate and leisure travel.

TIP OF ILLINOIS HEALTH SERVICES HONORS EMPLOYEES

Tip of Illinois Health Services Inc. has honored three employees who hit employment milestones.

Jane Junkerman of Olmsted and Michelle Davis of Ullin were honored for 10 years of service. Junkerman is assistant branch manager at Tip's office in Olive Branch. Davis is a registered nurse at the Olive Branch office.

Anita Poole of Tamms received a service pin for five years of service. She is a registered nurse, previously based at the branch office in Anna. She recently transferred to the Olive Branch office.

Tip serves the lower 26 counties in Southern Illinois and provides physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, nursing, maternal and neonatal services, medical social services, home health aide and hospice services to more than 800 patients daily.

PREMIERE'S CLOTHING IN CAPE WELCOMES NEW PARTNER

Debi Kembel has joined her father, Paul Ervin, as a partner at PreMiere' Clothing, 19 N. Main, in Cape Girardeau.

The store features a selection of dress and casual wear. She is married to Robert Kembel and has a son, Paul Scott Kembel.

TWO FROM LIVING WATER ATTEND NATIONAL CONVENTION

Cynthia Adams and Jane Glaab of Living Water Books and Gifts in Cape Girardeau attended the Christian Booksellers Association 46th annual international convention July 15 to 20 at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver.

Representatives from more than 2,000 stores like Living Water placed orders, researched new product and marketing trends and attended seminars on advertising, marketing and financial matters. Six acres of exhibits, the equivalent of six football fields side by side, showcased new merchandise.

The Christian retailing industry is estimated to be a $3 billion business annually, up from $1 billion in 1980.

GENERAL SIGN COMPANY ANNOUNCES PROMOTION

General Sign Company announced the promotion of Kris Sneed, CPA, to Chief Financial and Administrative Officer.

She received her B.S. degree from Southeast Missouri State University, and has been employed by General Sign since September of 1993.

General Sign has also recently added Carla Robert and Kris Coe to its staff. They have responsibilities for personnel and accounting.
