Jason D. McDaniel, a Farmington native, is new assistant credit manager at Heilig-Meyers Furniture Co., 210 S. Silver Springs Road.
McDaniel has been with Heilig-Meyers for four years and transferred here from Farmington.
He has more than nine years in the furniture industry and previously worked at Hutson Furniture in Cape Girardeau.
Jay B. Knudtson of Cape Girardeau has been named vice president of commercial lending at Boatmen's Bank.
Knudtson joined Boatmen's in 1990 as real-estate loan officer, was promoted to assistant vice president in 1992 and vice president last year.
Knudtson is a member of the Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, chairman of the Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Board and president of the Parks Development Foundation.
Dr. Richard J. Swartz has moved his dental office to 1367 N. Mount Auburn Road in Cape Girardeau.
Swartz was previously had an office at 210 N. Sprigg St.
Mark Gullette of Cape Girardeau has been named regional vice president of Defender Services Inc. of Columbia, S.C.
Defender Services, an industrial maintenance and security contractor, serves 11 states where it operates as Total Security, Mid America Security and Defender Services.
Gullette, a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University, will be responsible for Defender's business in all 11 states.
Bonnie Stahlman, Pam Bryant and Brenda Proffer have received promotions at Union Planters Bank.
Stahlman has been promoted to vice president of loan support. She started at the Jackson Bank in 1976. She will be responsible for the centralized loan support department, with new offices at 727 W. Main in Jackson.
Bryant, who has been with the bank since 1986, has been promoted to assistant vice president and mortgage loan representative. She will assist customers with home loans and first-time home buyer plans. Her office is at 101 W. Main in Jackson.
Proffer, who has been promoted to assistant vice president and branch manager at the 101 W. Main branch at Jackson, has been in the banking business since 1977, and has worked at the Jackson bank since 1993.
Lt. Tom Taylor, director of the Governor's Security Divisions, was re-elected to a second two-year term as president of the National Governors' Security Association (NGSA) in Washington. The NGSA is made up of more than 600 state police and highway patrol officers assigned to protect the nation's governors. The association was formed in 1971 and includes the security units for the governors of 49 states and Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
This was the fourth NGSA election Taylor won, having previously served as secretary for five years before becoming president. Nearly 14 of his 23-plus years have been spent protecting four Missouri governors.
Taylor is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Taylor of Cape Girardeau.
John Morton III, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Boatmen's National Bank of St. Louis, has been elected an executive vice president of Boatmen's Bancshares Inc.
Morton will assume additional management responsibilities as an officer of the holding company while retaining his current duties with the bank.
Boatmen's Bancshares Inc., is one of the nation's top 25 bank holding companies, operating at 650 sites in nine states, including Cape Girardeau.
