Karen Penrod of Cape Girardeau has been promoted to assistant vice president at Boatmen's bank.
Penrod started in banking at Farmers and Merchants Bank in 1977 as a part-time bookkeeper when she attended Southeast Missouri State University. She graduated from the university with a degree in business administration in 1981.
Farmers and Merchants was purchased by Boatmen's in 1982. While at Boatmen's, Penrod has received several promotions in the accounting and trust departments.
Vivian Barks has been named "Employee of the Year" at the Missouri Veterans Home.
Barks, who was Employee of the Month in March, was selected by her co-workers for her latest honor.
Barks is the Veterans Home cosmetologist, providing haircuts and other personal grooming care for residents. She received a plaque, a $100 savings bond, a $50 gift certificate to a local restaurant and a reserved parking place for a year.
Rick Crow has rejoined the sales staff of Wieser Honda-Mazda, 2611 Auto Park Drive in Cape Girardeau.
Crow of Cape Girardeau has more than 19 years experience in automobile sales, including 10 years with Honda and Mazda products.
Vince Adelman is new president of the Perryville Chamber of Commerce.
Other new officers installed recently are: Chris Mudd, vice president, and Patrick Carron, secretary-treasurer.
Veronica Hershey was outgoing president.
Harvey L. Cooper of the Community Sheltered Workshop at Sikeston has been appointed to serve on the Missouri Planning Council on Departmental Disabilities.
Cooper's appointment was made by Gov. Mel Carnahan and confirmed by the Missouri Senate.
Garry Price of Cape Girardeau has been recognized by Heartland Express Inc. of Iowa for accident-free driving for one year.
Price joined Heartland Express Dec. 1, 1994,. He was honored by the Coralville, Iowa-based company last month.
A number of Tip of Illinois Health Services Inc. employees have received CPR certifications, following classes held recently in Carbondale.
Among those receiving certification were social workers Michelle Dennis and Debbie Stamatikos, both of Anna, and Oralee Poteet, director of social services, of Thebes.
Jim Zimmer of Carbondale has joined Cairo, Ill. airport as airport manager.
Zimmer will be in charge of all services related to general aviation.
He has a bachelor degree in aviation management and a master's degree in aviation administration from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale.
