Estella Kelley and Sharon Welker shared "Employee of the Year" honors at the Lutheran Home.

Kelley is a certified nurse's aide and has been at the Lutheran Home for 26 years. Welker, business office manager, has been at the Lutheran Home for 23 years.

A number of employees were honored for years of service. They included Cathy Grebing and Judy Leible-Stanley, 20 years; Helen Laurentius, 15 years; Betty Arnzen, Marj Fichter, Doris Glastetter, Ann Kielhafner, Beverly Limbaugh, Jean Thoma and Mildred Westrich, all 10 years.

David F. Stoverink will assume duties as associate judge in the Ninth Judicial Circuit in Illinois next month.

Stoverink, formerly of Jackson, is a partner in the law firm of Capps, Ancelet, Stoverink and Clark in Carthage, Ill.

He was selected by circuit judges in the Ninth Circuit to fill a vacancy in the office of associate judgeship, starting Feb. 18.

Richard C. Ripple Ninth Circuit chief judge, announced Stoverink's selection.

Stoverink, a graduate of Loras College, Dubuque, Iowa, received his juris doctorate form the University of Missouri and was admitted to practice law in Illinois in 1977.

He is a director of St. Mary's Academy, Midstate College, and Carl Sandburg College foundations. He was formerly a director of the Hancock County Health Department; trustee of Carthage Public Library; and president and director of the Carthage Baseball Association.

Stoverink, son of Alphonse and Irene Stoverink of Jackson, attended schools in Jackson and Cape Girardeau. Stoverink's wife, Linda, teaches school in the Carthage School District.

Four new employees have joined the Cape Girardeau marketing team of Alliance Blue Cross Blue Shield.

Jan Gluesing and Deb Ramsey have been named account executives for the Southern Illinois territory. Gluesing joined the company in 1996 as a sales support specialist and has been an account representative in Southeast Missouri. Ramsey was marketing director for I.V. Care Inc./American HomePatient.

Lesley Nall has been named executive assistant to Randy Ressell, vice president of regional sales. She is attending the administrative assistant program at Southeast Missouri State University. She previously worked part time for a Cape Girardeau doctor, David Crowe.

Vickie Chesnick has been named sales support specialist for the Cape Girardeau marketing team. She joins Alliance Blue Cross Blue Shield from Midland Insurance Agency, where she was involved in sales support for three years.

The new Alliance Blue Cross Blue Shield Processing Center, which will eventually employ about 200, opened Jan. 1 in Cape Girardeau.

Richard Brawley of Scott City has completed a course in auctioneering and auction sales management at the Missouri Auction School in St. Joseph.

Subjects at the nine-day school included antiques, livestock, furniture, business liquidations, real estate, general merchandise, estate auctions and the rapid-fire chant of the tobacco auctioneer.

Brawley, who received his auctioneer diploma and the honorary title of "Colonel," participated in selling at numerous public auctions in the Kansas City area.

Mary Gunn and Leslie Heuter, both of Elite Travel Inc., recently visited southern areas in the United States.

Gunn visited the Kissimmee-Orlando area in Florida. She visited hotels and resorts in the area along with theme parks at Walt Disney World.

Hueter has returned from a week-long familiarization trip of Albuquerque and Santa Fe in New Mexico. She visited hotels, restaurants and snow-skiing accommodations. She also visited several pueblos in the New Mexico area.

Kelley Callow of Jackson has been named "Stylist of the Year" at Special Effects Styling Salon in Cape Girardeau.

Callow has been with Special Effects for four years, and has been "Stylist of the Year" the past three years by providing the highest customer service volume in the salon.

Special Effects owner Kim Talley announced annual winners in two categories.

Named 'Top Retail Sales Stylist of the Year" was Amy Twidwell of Cape Girardeau. Twidwell, a special effects stylist for four years, recorded the highest product sales volume in the full-service salon.

Sandy Crites has been honored for 25 years of service with Heartland Care & Rehab Center.

Crites of Jackson works in medical records.

Glenda Cato, administrator of the center, presented Crites with a plaque and a gift certificate to a local restaurant.

R. Wayne Nesslein of Cape Girardeau has been appointed senior vice president for the Chester National Bank of Missouri.

Nesslein, who has more than 30 years of lending experience in the Southeast Missouri financial industry, is a member of the Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce, Cape Girardeau County Board of Realtors and Southeast Missouri Builders.

Nesslein and Jeff Hawk will provide loan services in Cape Girardeau, Perry, Scott and Bollinger counties from the Chester Mortgage Division of the bank at 125 S. Broadview Plaza in Cape Girardeau.

Dennis Hanes, CPA for Kraft, Miles & Tatum, is the new president of the Poplar Bluff Chamber of Commerce.

He was installed last weekend.
