W. B. "Bill" Pinnell has submitted his resignation as executive director of the New Madrid County Port Authority, effective Dec. 31. A search for his successor is under way.
Pinnell, who has held the position since April 1983, oversaw the port's construction of the slack water harbor along the Mississippi River. Under his direction, a general cargo dock and warehouse have been built along the harbor, which houses Louis Dreyfus Corp., Missouri's only rice mill. He was instrumental in the forthcoming addition of Consolidated Grain.
Jeff Hoehn, Bernie Kirn and Kathy Williams have received promotions at Dana Corp.'s Spicer Light Vehicle Axle Division, 20785 Corporate Circle in Cape Girardeau.
Hoehn was promoted to cell leader of Department 600, Heath Treat, on B Shift. Hoehn has been with Dana since April 1994.
Kirn has been promoted to cell leader of Department 500, Ring and Pinion, on B Shift. He started with Dana in December 1994.
Williams has been promoted to cell leader of Department 250, Differential Cases, on B Shift. She started with Dana in July 1996.
Pat Hagan, excellence in manufacturing facilitator and trainer for Dana Corp's Spicer Light Vehicle Axle Division in Cape Girardeau, recently received the "Certified Dana Supervisor" award.
Hagan completed six Dana University business courses to receive the designation. Courses completed were How to Use Supervisory Skills to Get Results, How to Develop Your Personal Strengths for Effective Managing, Product Cost Analysis, Financial Planning for Business Success, Problem Solving and Decision Making, and Developing the 9.9 Style of Manager.

Dr. Thomas C. Sparkman of Cape Girardeau has completed continuing medical educational requirement to retain active membership in the American Academy of Family Physicians, the national association of family doctors.
AAFP members are required to complete a minimum of 150 hours of continuing medical study every three years.
