Lin Jones has been named group sales director for the Cape Girardeau Convention & Visitors Bureau. Lin Jones has been named group sales director for the Cape Girardeau Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Jones, a native of Howell, N.J., is a graduate of Rowan University, with a bachelor's degree in marketing and a minor in communications.

In her new position, Jones will be responsible for enhancing the city's image as a destination for conventions and visitors. She will create new brochures and serve as special activities coordinator during festivals and special events in the city.

A number of Coldwell Banker Hamilton Realty members have been honored for 1997 sales.

They include Liz Abernathy, Schirley Jo Huey, Linda Brown, Terri Penrod and Bill Stovall.

Abernathy was named to the Coldwell Banker International President's Circle. The award is presented to the top 4 percent of more than 60,000 sales associates. Abernathy, a multimillion-dollar producer, had 50 closed transactions in 1997.

Huey was named to the International Diamond Society. Huey had more than 35 transactions and was included in the top 10 percent of Coldwell Banker sales associates. She is a lifetime member of the million-dollar clubs and a multimillion-dollar producer.

Brown, Penrod and Stovall were inducted into the International Sterling Society. They were among the top 20 percent of Coldwell Banker associates.

Thomas M. Meyer, of Thomas L. Meyer Realty, recently attended the National Association of Realtors meeting at Washington.

Discussed at the meeting were a number of real estate tax topics.

Meyer is a national director for the NAR. He is a past president of the Missouri Association of Realtors, serves as chairman of the MAR Economic Development Council and is chairman of this year's State International Committee.

Glenn Kroenung of Cape Girardeau is new manager at the Economy IGA Store at Scott City.

Kroenung has more than 35 years experience in the grocery business.

He previously worked at grocery markets in Cape Girardeau -- the former Child's IGA in Town Plaza and Storey's Food Giant supermarkets on Broadview and North Kingshighway.

Brad Beal was the big winner of a monthlong promotion by Mathes Motors, 1001 N. Kingshighway.

Beal was winner of a big-screen, color television.

Other winners included Robert Scheffe, who won a recliner, and Archie Sprengel, winner of a ring.

Bob Brandt, longtime financial officer for Libla Industries Inc. of Poplar Bluff, has joined Commerce Bank at Poplar Bluff as a senior vice president.

The bank's president, Roger Tolliver, announced Brandt's appointment last week.

Brant, a graduate of Arkansas State University, with a degree in accounting, has served as chief financial officer for Libla since 1981. He previously worked for a savings and loan company as a branch manager.

A number of Dana Corp.'s employees at the Spicer Axle Division at 2075 Corporate Circle attended the Peter Lowe's Motivational Seminar, Success, 1998 program recently at the Trans World Dome in St. Louis.

Attending the seminar were Dave Blanchard, Mike Grebing, Missy Jones, Larry Koehler, Cliff Lafond, Donna Loop and Scott Sparks.

Feature speakers at the seminar included Jack Buck, Muhammed Ali, Larry King, George and Barbara Bush, Peter Lowe, Christopher Reeve and Gen. Colin Powell.
