Two join Jackson realty company

Laurie Wachoski of Jackson and Kelly Kranawetter of Cape Girardeau have joined Coldwell Banker Abernathy Realty, 2836 E. Jackson Blvd., in Jackson.

Wachoski, who attended the University of Wyoming and Southern Oregon State College, has a number of years of experience.

Kranawetter also has experience in real estate.

Life membership in MWWC given to Cook

Steven R. Cook, environmental services coordinator for Cape Girardeau city government, recently obtained Missouri Water and Wastewater Conference (MWWC) life membership status. Life membership is for those with 25 years of active membership in the conference.

Cook, a 25-year city employee, served as treasurer for the Southeast Missouri Water and Wastewater Conference.

As environmental services coordinator, he oversees 52 employees in the Cape Girardeau Public Works Department, including stormwater, solid wastes services and wastewater treatment divisions.

The MWWC was established in 1925 to serve the needs of the water and wastewater systems operators throughout the state, by providing a forum for the exchange of ideas through meetings, conferences and training programs.

Fritzler earns Lutheran underwriter designation

Steven Fritzler of Cape Girardeau, a district representative for Aid Association for Lutherans (AAL), has earned the title of Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) from the American College in Bryne Mawr, Pa.

To earn the CLU designation, Fritzler completed courses on a number of topics, such as financial planning, life insurance, law, income taxation, estate planning and retirement planning.

Fritzler, who joined AAL's field staff in 1989, is with the Michael Mickelson Agency of AAL, Independence, and serves Lutherans and their family members in Cape Girardeau, Jackson, Kennett, Malden and Sikeston.

AAL, a Fortune 500 organization based in Appleton, Wis., is a leading fraternal benefit society of about 1.8 million members. AAL provides Lutherans and their families with life insurance and retirement products.

Voelker joins Family Eye Center in Cape

Annette Voelker has joined Family Eye Center, 3019 William, as assistant to Dr. Troy Bell, owner of the operation which was formerly Horner-Rausch Optical Superstore.

Voelker was previously associated with Regional Eye Care Center for 15 years.

Other new employees at the Family Eye Care Center include Pam Brown, an ABOC certified optician, Michelle Hoskins and Josh Featherston.

Accountants attend workshop in St. Louis

Holly A. Thomas and Michael A. Radake, CPAs with Schott & Van de Ven, Certified Public Accountants have completed specialized training in retirement planning and distribution strategies. The workshop focused on building long-term multi-generational wealth through retirement planning. The workshop was presented by the Missouri Society of CPAs and held in St. Louis.

Thomas has the designation of certified specialist in estate planning. Thomas and Radake are professional members of the Missouri Society of CPAs.

Schott & Van de Ven is a full-service public accounting firm located at 1020 N. Kingshighway, Suite D, Cape Girardeau. Founded in 1959, the firm has satellite offices in Marble Hill, Missouri and Marion, Ill.

Parke-Davis rep wins Advocate of Year award

Bryan B. Young, senior professional healthcare representative with Parke-Davis, a division of Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, has been awarded the 2001 Advocate of the Year award by the heartland Advance Practice Nursing Network.

Young received the award during a primary care seminar held recently at Southeast Missouri State University.

The award is presented to the person who has been instrumental in advocating for advance practice nursing in this region, through support of educational, as well as community service endeavors.
