* The Missouri Hospital Association recently presented Governance Excellence recognition to three SoutheastHEALTH trustees. John M. Thompson, Robert "Bob" Neff and Frank Kinder received certificates during the MHA Leadership Forum in Lake Ozark, Mo., earlier this month. The trustees completed the MHA's educational development program designed for hospital board members. The Governance Excellence Certificate Program was launched in 2011 to enhance hospital trustees' skills and provide them with increased knowledge of issues pertaining to hospital governance for their organizations. Thompson serves as chairman of the Southeast Hospital Board of Trustees, Neff is vice chairman and Kinder is secretary/treasurer.
Vickie Schnurbusch has been named administrator of Southeast Home Care Services, succeeding Sheila Beussink who has become the director of maternal-child services. Schnurbusch began at Southeast Hospital as a pharmacy technician in the 1980s, and her career has led to work in oncology, employee health, medical telemetry, home health and hospice in staff positions. She became the nurse manager of hospice in 1996 and left that position for a few months in 2012, returning as a staff nurse in March. Schnurbusch attended the LPN program at the Cape Girardeau Career and Technology Center and received a diploma in nursing from Southeast Missouri Hospital College of Nursing and Health Sciences and her bachelor's degree in nursing at Southeast Missouri State University. She also holds a master's degree in nursing from Webster University in St. Louis.
Dr. Devin Stephenson, president of Three Rivers College, has been chosen as the chair-elect of the Missouri Community College Association's Presidents/Chancellors Council for 2013-2014. The chair-elect provides support for the council chair and prepares to assume the council chair when the current holder's term expires. Stephenson has been president of Three Rivers College since 2009 and he earned an associate degree from Walker Junior College, a bachelor's degree in business administration from Birmingham-Southern College and master's and doctoral degrees in the administration of higher education from the University of Alabama. Stephenson has more than 30 years of experience in community-college education in Alabama and Missouri, and is a peer evaluator with both the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and the Higher Learning Commission accrediting agencies.
Sharon Stinson has been promoted to executive director of operations, finance and portfolio management at Southeast Hospital. Stinson most recently served as director of operations support, and she began her career with Southeast Hospital in 1978. She has served as assistant director to the chief nursing officer for nursing administration for more than 20 years. Stinson also coordinated the Magnet Recognition Program and established the outpatient diabetes center, and she also coordinated the Bed Modernization Project, implemented computer programs to include Hospital Information System and Optilink Productivity and Staffing System, and developed the first Southeast Hospital Nursing Camp for high school students interested in a career in nursing or the health sciences. Stinson is a member of the American Organization of Nurse Executives and is a surveyor for the National League for Nursing Accreditation Commission. She holds a bachelor's degree in nursing and master's degree in administration.
Saint Francis Medical Center announced oncologist/hematologist Justin D. Floyd, D.O., has been certified by M.D. Anderson Cancer Network through the Medical Center. Floyd, a Saint Francis Medical Partner at Cape Medical Oncology, sees cancer patients at Saint Francis as well as Perry County Memorial Hospital in Perryville, Mo., and Memorial Hospital in Chester, Ill. The M.D. Anderson Cancer Network is a program of The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, one of America's leading cancer care providers.
