Ameren program helps Notre Dame Regional High School go green

Ameren Missouri has helped Notre Dame Regional High School in Cape Girardeau earn $5,802 through its ActOnEnergy BizSavers program for the installation of energy-efficient lighting in the school's two gymnasiums, according to a news release from Ameren Missouri.

The Ameren Missouri ActOnEnergy BizSavers program provides cash incentives to encourage and facilitate the completion of energy-efficiency projects, according to the release.

Notre Dame partnered with Metro Electric on the project and is expected to save an estimated $7,755 on the school's annual electric bill, the release said. The school should recoup the total cost of installation in savings in a little more than two years.

"Ameren Missouri's BizSavers energy efficiency program helps our school save money and reduce our energy usage -- which is good for the environment," assistant principal of Notre Dame Brad Wittenborn said in the release. "This project is the first step in greening our campus, and we plan on continuing these conservation efforts in the future."
