Hollywood Casino Corp., which operated theme gambling and entertainment facilities and the nation's largest collector of authentic motion picture memorabilia, has acquired major pieces created for the production of "Titanic," the top-grossing motion picture of all times.
The largest acquired piece is the 28-foot-long, 6,000-pound, 1/8 scale model of the stern of the ocean liner built by Donald Pennington Inc., a Hollywood special-effects company based in Northridge, Calif.
The stern portion of the "Titanic" model will be shipped to Tunica, Miss., 35 miles south of Memphis, Tenn., for permanent display at Hollywood Casino-Tunica.
The casino is constructing a "Titanic" tribute display to house the model and other memorabilia. The exhibition will open in mid-April in the midst of a 500,000-gallon pool,.
