He replaces Dr. James Reinersten, who resigned from the ShopKo board of directors due to time constraints related to his position as chief executive officer of CareGroup Healthcare System of Boston.

ShopKo Stores, a Fortune 500 company headquartered in Green Bay, Wis., operates 314 retail stores in 22 states, including 158 specialty discount stores operating under the ShopKo name in mid-sized and larger cities.

The company has also announced that its wholly-owned Pamida subsidiary has entered into an agreement to sell its Heartland Home Furnishing stores to a group of investors led by John Barnett, director of Heartland Home Furnishing at Pamida.
