Southwestern Bell Communications Inc. plans to introduce a simple and affordable e-mail-only communications system, called eMessage, that forgoes the use of a personal computer to send e-mail via the Internet.
SBC is the first major telecommunications provider to announce plans to broadly market this innovative technology, which includes a lightweight, 7-by-10-inch keyboard device, with a flip-up display screen that attaches to a standard phone and includes the e-mail service from an SBC Internet company.
SBC plans to have eMessage ready within a month.
