Pocahontas Lumber & Hardware Inc. of Jackson has been honored by Ace Hardware Corp., for sales and service.
Pocahontas Lumber, 410 W. Independence in Jackson, received an engraved plaque from Ace Hardware. The store is a major supplier of home building and home improvement products, and celebrated its 50th year in business earlier this year.
Pocahontas has been family-owned for half a century, but the firm actually dates to 1889 when it was started in Pocahontas as Landgraf and Keininger, and later A.G. Landgraf Lumber Co. Clarence Saupe purchased the company in 1949.
It to its current site in 1965 and became an Ace Hardware dealer in 1974.
