Associated Electric Cooperative Inc. (AECI), has completed a year without a "lost-time" accident at the New Madrid Power Plant.
"We feel this is an outstanding achievement," said Bruce Stone, director of power production for AECI.
New Madrid employees also set a one-year record in 1995.
"Our people are interested in their own safety," said Stones. "They're proud of the accomplishment of going a year without a lost-time accident." Employees participate in STOP (Safety Training Observation l;Program), which reminds employees to focus on their surroundings and the activities of co-workers.
AECI is owned by and provides wholesale power to six regional and 42 local electric cooperative systems in Missouri and Southeast Iowa, serving more than 550,000 homes and business and representing 1.5 million individual consumers.
