East Perry Lumber Co., a hardwood sawmill operation headquartered at Frohna, has received national recognition as one of only eight companies worldwide to be nominated for the National Hardwood Lumber Association's (NHLA) 1996 Forest Stewardship Award.
The award recognizes NHLA member companies which exemplify excellence in forest stewardship. NHLA is the largest and oldest hardwood trade organization in North America, representing more than 1,700 producers, users and distributors of hardwood lumber in the U.S. and Canada and throughout the world.
NHLA recognizes East Perry Lumber for its commitment to the Sustainable Forest Policy to sustain the health and productivity of the nation's forests through scientific forest management practices.
For every tree used to make a hardwood product, East Perry Lumber grows nearly twice that amount to replace it each year.
