ST. LOUIS -- The director of McDonnell Douglas Corp.'s military business was fired after eight months on the job in a clash with the chief executive.
Chief executive Harry Stonecipher said Friday he could not reconcile his differences with Herbert Lanese, who was president of McDonnell Douglas' aerospace business.
Lanese was responsible for military aircraft, missile systems, military and commercial helicopters, and space and electronic systems. Stonecipher will oversee those operations until a successor is chosen.
