HAYNEVILLE, Ala. -- General Motors Corp. told an Alabama court that it had paid $67 million to settle lawsuits over a faulty $3 door latch installed in some 40 million vehicles.
The payments came in 55 lawsuits challenging GM's Type III latches, which plaintiffs' lawyers contend are faulty and have led to hundreds of people being ejected from cars and trucks during accidents.
