BUSINESS MEMO: D&K EARNINGS

D&K Healthcare Resources Inc., formerly known as D&K Wholesale Drug Inc., has reported record sales and earnings for the fiscal year ended June 30.

Net sales for the year was $815.3 million, up 33 percent from 1998 sales. Diluted earnings per share for the year were $1.52, up from 90 cents a year ago.

Gross profits for the year were $41.1 million, up 38.6 percent.

Sales growth was experienced in independent pharmacy, chain and mail order categories.

D&K Healthcare Resources, headquartered in St. Louis, is a full-service, regional wholesale drug distributor, supplying customers from facilities at Cape Girardeau, Lexington, Ky., and Minneapolis. D&K also owns 50 percent interest in Pharmaceutical Buyers Inc. of Boulder Colo.
