The Cape Area Personnel Association, in conjunction with the Job Service Employment Committee will hold its annual conference "Employee Management: Doing It Right!" Nov. 19, at Drury Lodge. Registration is 8-8:30 a.m., followed by a conference kickoff at 8:45 and concludes at 4 p.m.

The conference covers topics related to personnel/human resources that affect small or large businesses such as setting up government required safety programs, managing discipline and discharge, recent developments in state and federal laws, limiting employer liability and workplace violence issues.

Speakers include Jeff Brinkmeyer of the Department of Labor in Kansas City; Robert Kaiser, editor of the Missouri Law Letter; and Rick Hetzel, Cape Girardeau police chief.

CAPA is an affiliated chapter of the Society of Human Resource Management and is a not-for-profit organization.

Proceeds from the conference are used to defray associated costs of the conference and group meetings as well as to provide scholarships for local Southeast Missouri State University students.

All individuals with a vested interest in Human Resources or Personnel functions in their organization are encouraged to attend this event.
