The calf crop was estimated at 2.07 million, up slightly from the 2.06 million on July 1, 1999.

Nationally, cattle and calves in the U.S. as of July 1, 2000 totaled 106.4 million head, 1 percent below the 107 million of a year ago.

Beef cows were at 34 million, down slightly from the 43.3 of July 1, 1999 and milk cows were at 9.25 million, up 1 percent.
