Caterpillar Inc., which has a 170,000-square-foot manufacturing facility at Dyersburg, Tenn., and is building a new 190,000-square-foot plant at West Plains, has reported its best earnings quarter ever.
The company, headquartered at Peoria, Ill., said profit was up 33 percent for the quarter ending March 31.
Net income for the manufacturer of earth-moving equipment, rose to $394 million, or $2.08 a share, from $296 million and $1.53 a share during the same period a year ago.
Sales for the quarter were $4.26 billion.
Caterpillar has also announced a 40,000-square-foot expansion at Dyersburg, putting that plant at more than 200,000 square feet.
