Mary Hostetter of the Blue Owl Restaurant and Bakery in Kimmswick has been selected "1997 Restaurateur of the Year" by the Greater St. Louis Restaurant Association.
The Blue Owl is familiar to many Cape Girardeans. Many of the more than 9,000 guests a week who eat at the restaurant are from the Cape Girardeau and Southeast Missouri area.
The Blue Owl, which opened with five employees now employs 65.
The restaurant serves "home-style" meals, featuring a number of entrees, including pot roast, chicken and dumplings and others, along with a wide variety of desserts.
The GSLRA represents more than 1,600 members in restaurants, hotels, country clubs, catering firms, hospital food service and food product suppliers in the St. Louis area.
