Caterpillar Inc., headquartered at Peoria, Ill., has concluded a deal to sell $175 million worth of mine equipment to precious metal interests in Indonesia.
Caterpillar will sell 120 trucks, tractors and other equipment to Indonesia's P.T. Newmont Nusa Tenaggara, which is jointly owned by Denver-based Newmont Gold, Japan's Sumitomo Corp. of Japan and P.T. Pukuafu Indah of Indonesia.
Most of the equipment will be manufactured in the Illinois cities of Decatur, East Peoria, Joliet and Aurora.
The Caterpillar fleet will be used to mine gold and copper from a mine at Bata Hijau on the island of Sumbawa.
Caterpillar has a manufacturing facility at Dyersburg, Tenn., and is building a new 190,000-square-foot plant at West Plains.
