Heartland's Experienced Live-in Professionals (HELP) has opened in Cape Girardeau.
The agency has two purposes: to give seniors an alternative to nursing homes and to give local individuals jobs as live-ins.
The agency will provide mature, responsible live-ins around the clock to those who might otherwise be forced by disabling conditions to leave their homes for care, said Brad Witty, owner.
"Although ours is not a skilled nursing program, often we can keep a patient at home as we receive some skilled nursing assistance from the local home-health agency," said Witty.

Scott County sheriff's office is using a new lifesaving tool a Kawasaki Jet Ski watercraft.
The Jet Ski Tandem Sport, which was provided by Express Cycle Kawasaki of Cape Girardeau, would normally enable officers to quickly reach distressed swimmers, tow victims to safety and assist in enforcing boating regulations. However, due to the flood situation, the watercraft is being used for special emergency duty.
Following successful use of the craft by lifesaving and marine enforcement agencies in Florida, North Carolina and Oregon, Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A. implemented an ongoing loan program that allows Kawasaki dealers to provide the craft to agencies across the country for periods of up to one year. Express Cycle arranged the loan and will provide service for the vessel for the duration of the loan period.
"Jet Ski watercraft are ideally suited to rescue situations," said Kawasaki's director of public affairs, Roger Hagie, "because they are quick, maneuverable and they have no exposed propellers or other moving parts outside the hull that could harm a swimmer."
