Capital Bancorporation's net income for the three months ended March 31 was $1,581,000. Earnings per common share for the three months were 48 cents, up from the 40 cents for the first quarter of 1992.

The allowance for possible loan losses was $10,183,000, representing approximately 225 percent of nonperforming loans and approximately 1.78 of total loans.

On April 18, the Board of Directors declared a regular quarterly cash dividend of 16 cents per share on common stock, payable May 6 to shareholders of record April 29, and declared the quarterly cash dividend with respect to the preferred stock (depositary shares) payable June 1 to holders of record May 25.

Capital Bancorporation is multibank holding company headquartered in Cape Girardeau.

Commerce Bancshares Inc. has announced a 29 percent increase in first-quarter earnings for 1993. The firm reported $21 million for the first three months of 1993, compared to $16.3 million for the same period in 1992.

Per-share earnings were $1, an increase of 26.3 percent a year ago when earnings were 86 cents.

In announcing the results, David W. Kemper, chairman and CEO, said: "We are again reporting record earnings reflecting a satisfactory performance for the quarter. The quarter resulted in a return on assets of 1.13 percent and return on equity of 13.32 percent.

SIKESTON Ronald C. Milbach, president of the Farm Credit Branch of Production Credit Association and Federal Land Bank Association of Southeast Missouri, headquartered at Sikeston, has announced two changes at the Advance Farm Credit office.

Sheila Hitt, who has been with Farm Credit for 18 years, has been promoted to credit representative for the Advance office, and Marlene Brown has been hired as a part-time secretary at the office.

Bill Doan is vice president and branch manager of the Advance office.
