Leon Whitler was appointed special liaison to the board, Joel Dermott was named general manager, Charles Hammack was elected secretary-treasurer, and Robin Cook was named claims manager for the company.

The White LT-12 lawn tractor is in the movies, and will be showing in movie theaters across the national this spring.
In Carl Reiner's latest film, "Triple Indemnity," the LT-12 plays a pivotal role. Armand Assante drives the tractor through a wall in this comic "whodunit."
The LT-12 is also featured in "Rich in Love," carrying actor Albert Finney down the street in pursuit of his wife, played by Jill Claybaugh.

Newly constructed hospice rooms at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale, Ill., will open Sunday.
The project was funded entirely by donations form the community.
Hospice rooms are equipped with a small refrigerator and microwave for preparations of simple foods, television, VCR and stereo, a small table and chairs, and sleeping accommodations.
The hospice rooms are designed to make a hospital stay comfortable for hospice patients who need to be hospitalized for adjustment of pain medication, control of symptoms, or to provide the family or care-givers with a needed respite.

Chick-fil-A is introducing two new menus designed for the visually impaired and patrons with special needs.
Starting this month, large print and Braille menus will be available in all Chick-fil-A restaurants. The menus will be wall-mounted to be easily accessible to customers in wheelchairs or with limited mobility.
The five-page Braille and four-page large-print menus include the same menu items featured on the traditional, lighted menu boards in the restaurants.
The local Chick-fil-A restaurant is in West Park Mall.

ST. LOUIS Mercantile Bancorporation Inc., with assets of more than $10.5 billion, started trading its common stock on the New York Stock Exchange last week under the symbol MTL.
"Moving to the nation's leading equity trading exchange is a natural step as Mercantile continues to strengthen its franchise as one of the top bank-holding companies in the region," said Thomas H. Jacobsen, Mercantile's chairman and chief executive officer. "Listing on the New York Stock Exchange will enlarge the pool of potential shareholders in both the domestic and international investment markets.
Mercantile's stock appears as MercBcpMO in the Wall Street Journal and as MercBc in most newspapers. Mercantile common stock has been traded on the NASDAQ National Market System with the symbol MTRC.
Mercantile, headquartered in St. Louis, has 38 banks in Southern Illinois, Eastern Kansas and Missouri, including Mercantile of Cape Girardeau.

Mailboxes Etc. has announced the installation of a new computer service.
"Customers now have access to a 386 window-driven personal computer, laser printer, scanner and plotter on a per-hour basis," said Laurie White of Mailboxes Etc., 209 S. Broadview.
Featured software includes Word Perfect, Lotus, Ventura Desktop Publishing and AutoCad.
