Wesley Wade of Marcon Promotional Advertising has been installed as president of the Advertising Federation of Southeast Missouri.

Other officers include Maggie Friend, Southeast Missouri Hospital, vice president; Traci Neldon, Fox 23 KBSI, secretary; and Kim Mitchell, Red Letter Communications Inc., treasurer.

Elected to the board of directors for two-year terms were Judy Wiles, Southeast Missouri State University; Rich Rather, Media Consultants, and Kari Hall, West Park Mall. Elected for one-year terms were Vivian Overholser, KZIM Radio; Paul Walker, Southeast Missourian; and Rick Lambert, KGMO Radio.

Dr. James Chapman, a cardiologist, was the moderator of the St. Louis Regional Interventional Cardiology Conference held Wednesday at St. Anthony's Medical Center in St. Louis.

The program topic was "New Insights Into the Problem of Restenosis" with Dr. Richard Myler of the San Francisco Heart Institute in San Francisco as guest speaker. The conference was attended by interventional cardiologists from Eastern Missouri and Western Illinois who presented cases for review.

Chapman is associated with Cardiovascular Consultants of Cape Girardeau, and is a member of the medical staffs at Southeast Missouri Hospital and St. Francis Medical Center. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a member of the American Medical Association, Missouri State Medical Association, Cape County Area Medical Society and the American Heart Association.

Mary Kay Cosmetics' High Achievers were honored recently during a banquet at New Madrid hosted by senior sales director Jana Jateff of Cape Girardeau.

The Pasta House Co. recently conducted its annual customer survey based on total customer expectations on service, food quality, friendliness of employees and overall experience.

"Area Pasta House restaurants finished 1, 2 and 5 in the final ratings," said Robert P. Hoppmann, supervisor for Primo Management. Paducah, Ky., received the No. 1 rating, Cape Girardeau No. 2, and Carbondale, Ill. No. 5, he said.

Seth Siemers is general manager of the Cape Girardeau restaurant in West Park Mall.

The Pasta House Co., founded in 1974 at St. Louis, has 24 restaurants.

"It's not really cookie and it's not really a brownie," said Tom Harte, head chef of the downtown business. "It's My Daddy's Wedgie."

The wedgies come in several varieties, including Death by Chocolate, Nutty Coconut, Terrific Toffee, Gooey Louis and Hello Daddy.

A new wedgie featuring apricots, raisins and sunflower seeds will be introduced soon. Another new item will be a holiday bread at Easter and a multigrain scone for the health conscious.

JACKSON Members of Aid Association for Lutherans (AAL) Branch 1621 of Jackson have received a gold star rating by the fraternal benefit society in recognition of exemplary volunteer services to the community.

Officers of AAL Branch 1621 are Darrel Seabaugh, Jackson, president; Paul Sides, Jackson, vice president; and Loretta Fluegge, Jackson, secretary.

AAL's 8,204 branches are ranked in eight performance categories. To achieve the highest ratings gold or silver branches must annually sponsor at least one AAL benevolent activity (fund-raising or work project), conduct at least nine meetings, and sponsor one educational activity and one member awareness event.

OAK BROOK, Ill. - McDonald's Corp. is testing a bigger burger in an attempt to beef up its dinner business.

The Mickey D hamburger is one of several items the company is testing in its continuing attempt to lure customers to the golden arches for dinner.

McDonald's is still working on pizza and pasta dishes, and is developing a grilled chicken sandwich, company spokeswoman Ann Connoly said.

The Mickey D weighs 5.3 ounces before frying. The new burger is served with lettuce, tomato, onions, spicy ketchup and cheddar cheese on a roll, and carries a recommended price of $2.29.

The Mickey D has been tested at several dozen restaurants in Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Missouri and Iowa since January.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. Shoney's Inc. has reported record revenues and a 38 percent increase in earnings per share for the first quarter of 1993.

Revenues for the 16-week quarter increased to $317,672,000, up 7 percent over the figure of $297,517,000 for the first quarter of 1991.

Net income increased to $12,111,000, 35 percent over the 1991 first quarter total of $8,952,000. Earnings were up 38 percent, from 21 cents a share in 1992 to 29 cents a share in 1993.

"This is our 235th consecutive quarter of record revenues," said Taylor H. Henry, Shoney's chairman and chief executive officer.
