Charlotte Black Sargent, Southeast Missouri Hospital's director of volunteer services, has been appointed hospitality chairman and historian for the Missouri Association of Directors of Volunteer Services.

Sargent has been an active member of the organization for several years, and previously served on the executive board as member-at-large. Sargent has served as chairman of its Policies and Procedures Committee and on the Nominating Committee.

An employee of Southeast for 10 years, Sargent also holds membership in the American Society of Directors of Volunteer Services.

Advanced Business Systems (ABS) of Cape Girardeau has been recognized as a Southwestern Bell Gold Level agent.

ABS is one of only four agencies in the St. Louis and Midwest regions to achieve Gold Level status. Criteria for the award are training requirements, professional product representation, proper product mix and defined sales objectives. ABS excelled in all areas while attaining 190 percent of sales goals.

ORAN Vince Draper of Stockade Buildings Inc., Oran, has been named to the National Frame Builders Association Board of Directors.

Draper has been in the building trade since 1970, when he joined a building crew in Iowa. He moved to Cape Girardeau in 1977, and became a partner in a construction company specializing in building post-frame buildings. He became president of Stockade buildings, Inc. in 1978.

Stockade Buildings manufactures a line of pre-engineered post-frame buildings for independent builders in 30 states.

"Business Grammar and Usage for Professionals" is the topic of a daylong workshop March 31.

The workshop, presented by National Seminars Inc., will be held at the Drury Lodge from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Topics include business grammar essentials, conquering spelling problems, and proofreading with ease.
